This is why we should wear safety glasses.

Here is a shot of sqrldog's Mike Brooks Wally-nut rifle being fired in the late evening.  This is what is really happening in our faces when shooting a flinter.  The fire from the pan and hole make it look like the breech blew up.  Looks like nice quick ignition.  Also makes the case for not looking into the touch hole immediately after a misfire.  Especially if you are shooting a wrong-handed rifle.  This raises the question of why don't more people report getting particles in their eyes.
