A long unseen rifle by Mark Bokenkamp comes to light.

Today I got a chance to take pictures of a Mark Bokenkamp rifle.  Mark was the resident blacksmith at the Ohio Village.  He  built really nice rifles and later moved into ornamental iron work.  He died in 2016 from a fall caused by a neurological condition.

This rifle has all hand-forged hardware and silver accents all over it.  While it isn't of a particular style, if I  had to pick a category, the iron furniture and profile put it in the really fancy Tennessee/western No. Carolina category.  He built it as he wanted.  Then dolled it up several levels to the "Who cares about the style.  It's a really nice rifle" category.

It has a straight 13/16" .45cal. barrel(I would guess it is a Douglas) with a good sparking Haddaway lock and single set trigger.

If you notice the signature, he engraved his name on the barrel.  Later on he used a cartouche to stamp his initials(an intertwined M and B near the breech) in the metal a la John Bivins.

More pictures of his work can be found in the book "Three Centuries of Tradition".
