Tim gets a Twofer ! ! !

This is a story that proves the theory of Darwinian selection.  Saturday night Tim and Dewitt went hog hunting.  Just before shooting light went away a hog walked into range of Tim's .54cal. flint gun.  When the smoke cleared, there laid the hog.  Tim gets out of the stand to check the hog and figures with the shooting noise his hunt is over.  All he has left to do is wait for Dewitt to come out at quitting time.  Since he had already reloaded the rifle in the event a coup-de-grace was needed on the first hog, he climbed back in the stand to wait for DeWitt.   Well Lo and Behold!!  He hears hogs moving around in the dark.  Here comes the Darwinian part.  Not taking the hint from the dead hog on the ground in front of them that there might be danger around, they had come out in the field proceeding to walk right past it to get to the bait.
Even though the bait light was on it was hard to see the open sights of the rifle    Holding a green LED flash light beside the barrel he was able to aim into the trees above the hogs. Then he could slowly lower the light to illuminate the sights and target the hogs.   Pretty tricky with a flintlock, but hogs don't see green or red very well.  With the target illuminated and a good rest he was able to 10X the hog right into the bait pile.  Bingo!!!  One more set of defective genes removed it from the gene pool.
That puts Tim ahead of DeWitt 3 to 1, and way ahead of me at 0, because I am too lazy to hunt much.  There are some rumors going around Ramer that Dewitt is secretly shopping for a flintlock to replace his 7mm Magnum shoulder cannon.

The Rifle is a copy of a really early NC rifle built by Joe Schell of New Burnside, IL. It has a Rice 42" .54cal. C weight barrel and a Chambers Early Ketland lock.
