Hunter
Cosby (13) finally marked another one off of his bucket list. Today he
finally harvested a whitetail deer with a muzzleloader. Hunter used a
.45 cal. percussion rifle made by William Young from Wahkon Mn. The
rifle originally was made for a friend of Hunter's grandfather Tim
Cosby. Tim bought the rifle at the deceased friend's estate sale several
years back. It is a great looking halfstock with german silver hardware
and is tastefully engraved by William.
Hunter used most
of his Christmas break from school to try and kill a deer with a
traditional muzzleloader. He spent hours in his stand, and while he saw
several deer none were inside the 65 yrs maximum set by his grandfather.
Either that or they were too small and young. Finally after almost
eight hrs in his stand today, there she was, a grown doe at 61yds. First
time ever shooting the Young built rifle Hunter hit the doe through both
lungs. Success was his. (We won't mention his trials and tribulations
with a flintlock)
