This rifle came from a pawn Shop in California. It is signed "SRB". No idea who he/she was/is. The workmanship is fine. It has a 44" .54cal. Getz swamped barrel and an older Chambers Deluxe Siler lock. That would date it to the 1980s or 90s. It needed some work when I got it. Some dummy tried to replace the two front 1/16" pins with larger size finishing nails. Of course they missed the 1/16" holes in the under lugs and went under them. Also made the holes in the forestock larger. He/she didn't even trim the nails. Just left the heads sticking out. I fitted the correct pins then melted beeswax in the holes to retain them and fill the holes. The lock had a standard Siler hammer on a deluxe plate. The hammer almost hit the fence. I robbed a lock in my lock stash installed the correct hammer. I'll save the engraved hammer to go with the rifle when I sell it. I may also send it to the Appalachian Lock Hacker to fit a new frizzen. The old one seems to work pretty good, but it might work a little better with a new frizzen. I also had to glue one of the silver inlays around the patchbox. The wood shrinks and things come loose as the wood dries out over time.
This nifty blanket lined case came with it.
Notice how close the bottom jaw comes to the fence.
This is the correct hammer.
