A late entry picked up at the CLA show.

Here we have for your perusal a rifle built by Keith Vance of the great state of Kentucky.  I took delivery of it at the CLA show in Lexington,KY.  It is a restock of some used hardware and a new barrel.  It could be called an "early style rifle" or just a "rifle".   Your call on the style.  It has a 42" .62cal. swamped barrel with a Chambers Early Ketland lock.  I was told that the barrel is a Getz or Hoyt.  Doesn't really matter.  While it should or could have a wooden patchbox, it could be argued that the brass lid is a replacement for a lost wooden lid.  After the single-acting, double-set trigger broke, I modified it by adding a single trigger.  This mod worked well in the test firing, and the LOP fits me well.
A .595 ball and a thick canvas patch work well to fill the deep rifling of the round bottom rifling.  For such a large caliber barrel it balances well and feels lighter than it looks..  The Early Ketland seems made for a single trigger.  It is fast, smooth, and easy on flints.
