After having the green motion light batteries go dead in the middle of a previous hunt, last night the hog feeder lights worked well. After a few exciting moments as the lights were triggered by raccoons, the hogs showed at the feeder.
On the ride over to the hunting land Dewitt
boasted "tonight I'm going to kill Uncle Willie". A name he called the
biggest boar hog that had been seen on the game cameras. About 10:40 PM a
good sized hog came into the circle of light and Dewitt cut loose with
his 7MM Remington Magnum. "I've done it", he thought as Uncle Willie went down.
Dewitt's text went out to Tim Cosby "big hog down". Tim thought "big hog"
must mean " Uncle Willie". He advised Dewitt to sit tight as hogs were
moving and maybe another group would come to the bait. Tim could also
hear hogs in the woods near his stand, but after waiting until midnight , no hogs came into the area he was hunting. So he climbed down and drove his
truck over to Dewitt's stand. He made it to the hog just as Dewitt climbed
down from the stand.
Dewitt asked anxiously "is
that Uncle Willie "? Tim with his dry wit said "no more like Aunt
Williena". You see it wasn't a big boar but a big sow. But it was just as well because another pig factory
was removed from the property. One less hog to destroy the landowner's crops.
