After doing exhaustive research into Autauga county gunsmiths, I found that this style of touchhole pick holder was used instead of the plainer type typical of these rifles.  How this happened no one is sure.  Possibly an itinerant trader came through and sold some in the area.  Be that as it may, I decided to install one on my rifle to bring it into line with rifles in the made in the Independence area.  Maybe the whole story will come to light in the future.  The truth is out there.
