The post deer season hog hunting kicked off this year with a really big boar hog showing up on the game cameras. DeWitt named him Humpy because of the hump in his back near his rump. Humpy is an old, "fully mature" boar. He showed up numerous times on the cameras.
DeWitt spent many long nights in the bottom stand. Sometimes all night long in the dark waiting for the motion light to come on. He saw many hogs and shot a couple, but Humpy never showed. He showed on the game cameras at all hours, but never when anyone was around. Sometimes late at night and sometimes in the daylight. That caution is how freischlings become uberlaufers. After all the feeders were pulled this week old Humpy showed up on camera at midnight to give Dewitt one last goodbye look.
