All throughout Alabama's long deer season Hunter Cosby watched rabbits
feed on food plots planted for deer, he was determined to harvest a
rabbit for rabbit stew when deer season ended and rabbit season was
still ongoing.
Yesterday one of the food plot munchers
met his match. Hunter spent a couple of hours testing pellets to find
the most accurate projectile for his .177 cal. Gamo Bone Collector
pellet rifle. Another 30 minutes or so to fine tune his scope's zero, and
it was off to eliminate some of those wascally wabbits. It only took
about an hour for one of the rabbits to hop out into the narrow food
plot. Even though the rabbit was 35 yds away, it detected movement as
Hunter started to raise his Bone Collector. But, alas, it was too late. As
the rabbit turned to leave the food plot for the safety of the nearby
briar thicket, the Bone Collector spoke, and the .177 cal. Pellet found
its mark. A perfect shot through the ribs angled forward did the job.
Thanks to Hunter the Cosbys are having rabbit stew for Sunday dinner (lunch up North).
Rumor has it that after dinner Hunter will
once again be in pursuit of those wascally wabbits.
