On the way home from visiting Mich. and Ohio I stopped at Joe's and picked up my newest rifle. It is a Rice 42" B profile .40cal. North Carolina(Randolph/Guilford county) style rifle. All the furniture is handmade. The lock is a Roller/ L&R. It has really nice internals, but the cock was a loose fit on the tumbler shaft. I firmly tightened the screw, but it helped but didn't totally eliminate the slop. So, I carefully punched around the hole on both sides to firm it up. It will work now. One day when I really get bored maybe I'll try to fit another cock. Joe did a good job on this rifle. There isn't a whisker of extra wood. Seems like a .40 in the B profile would be a tad heavy, but it really holds well and balances right on the entry pipe. A plus is that the front trigger geometry is light enough it works almost as well unset as it does set. This effectively shortens the LOP by 1/4" if needed. Neat!
