This is a rifle I built after a 20yr. building layoff. I ran into some cheap parts and decided to build a rifle. The barrel is one of the old Orion barrels shortened to 41" and professionally breeched and crowned. The lock is a Dale Johnson that I polished inside and out and rounded the pan to change the look a bit. The lock bolt escutcheon is a cast early style toe plate from my junk drawer that I filed down to make a bell. It was a fun build, and now I'm looking for something to tinker with this winter. This rifle will finance the parts for the next.
This is a test. Click on picture for full size view. .40cal. 41" 13/16" barrel with a slightly modified Dale Johnson flintlock. 13.5" LOP.
